Welcome to Year 6

Ensuring the children are independent and organised individuals, in preparation for their transition to secondary school, is a key aim for Year 6.  To achieve this, the children have many opportunities to take on roles of responsibility, including: being buddies to the children in reception; being tour guides to visitors to the school and representing the school in various sporting events.

While there is a strong focus on the core subjects of English and maths, the children enjoy theme lessons enriched with thrive experiences. Our themes are: Vote for Me, China; Ancient Islamic Civilisation; Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds and Amazon Adventure.

In the summer term, we look forward to an activity-filled residential week away as well as the Leavers’ Party and of course, the challenge of writing, producing, rehearsing and performing the Leavers’ Assembly, held in Christ Church.

Our aim is that the children leave us feeling proud and confident, with happy memories of their time at Stamford Green.
