Welcome to Year 5

Year 5 is a terrific year with lots of exciting topics.  In the Autumn term we kick off by exploring events that have made the news.  This involves researching topical issues and finding out about historical news items such as The Titanic sinking and the Berlin Wall.

We follow this with the popular theme of 'Mission to Mars' where the children learn about our solar system and beyond. Future themes include 'The Romans' and we will enjoy a Roman day of dressing up and activities. We also explore people who have changed the world with our theme of 'They made a difference'. Year 5 children also have swimming lessons in the Autumn term at the Rainbow Leisure Centre.

As part of our thrive experiences we visit the Buddhapadipa Buddhist Temple in Wimbledon and the children take part in ‘The Young Voices’ concert at the O2 Arena in London.  We also enjoy a visit from the ‘Astrodome’ and local historians.

As you can see, Year 5 is a fun-packed year!
