We realise that starting school for the first time or moving from one school to another is a major step in a child’s life. Every effort is made to make this transition as smooth as possible. If you are sending your son or daughter to the school we feel it is essential that you visit the school before making a decision about their future.

Children who enter the Reception classes are provided with an opportunity to become familiar with the school in the Summer term via a series of afternoon visits. During these visits, the children have a chance to join in with story time and the parents get the chance to meet the staff who will be responsible for their child. The Reception team will provide children with a fun activity pack which they may complete at home. These provide a gentle introduction into the skills they will be learning in school.

A meeting is held for prospective Reception parents in the Summer term to provide you with all the information you will need about your child starting at school. It is also another opportunity to meet the Reception team. An open day is held in the Autumn term to assist parents to make an informed choice about selecting a school for their child. Parents and children are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school at any other time during the school year.

Parents moving into the area during the school year may contact the school by telephone to make an appointment to visit. If your child is already attending school, we do encourage children to visit the school for either one whole day or half a day, so that they can feel confident about coming to our school, particularly if they have had a long holiday between changing schools.

Tours of the school with the Headteacher are happening on the dates listed at the top of the page.
