About Us

Stamford Green (SGPS) is a two form, over-subscribed Primary Community School with pupils aged 4-11.  At our last Ofsted inspection in 2006, we were assessed as a ‘Good’ school, with many outstanding features. Since then, the Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team have worked to improve many aspects of school life even further.  Our School Improvement Partner visits over the last three terms have reflected our performance as ‘Excellent’.

The school was originally opened during the academic year 1973-74 and the building is typical of schools built during that period.  We are lucky enough to have ample playing fields, allowing us to offer separate play areas for the younger and older children.  The school is built around an inner courtyard, currently enjoyed by our Foundation Stage classes as an outdoor learning area.  A further outdoor area has been created for the year 1 and 2 classes to enjoy and, during 2008, the cloakroom area for Key Stage 2 was expanded to provide additional facilities, a disabled toilet and a small group working room.

We have a strong leadership team organised into Phase Leaders. We have a hugely committed staff, and the standard of teaching is either Good or Outstanding.   Teaching Assistants are employed in each class for Key Stage 1, and each year group in Key Stage 2.  The School employs a Bursar who is part of the School Leadership Team and manages the School's administrative support consisting of the Headteacher’s P.A., and two Administrative Assistants.  The School also has a resident caretaker.

Our pupils are confident, enthusiastic and enjoy coming to school. They enthusiastically embrace the wide variety of activities available to them.  On site is a school-run Breakfast Club (‘Stamfords’) and After School Club which complement the various clubs run by staff and external organisations.

We currently have approximately 57 children on our SEN register, 2 who have a full statement.
